It is being seen as a small (or major) sensation in the German DIY industry that Bauhaus, the second largest home improvement retailer in Germany, has rejoined the industry association BHB. The company had left the association together with the Praktiker chain in the year 2003. The reason at that time, according to the company, was the criticism of the head of the association concerning discount campaigns by the two DIY store operators. BHB had spoken, among other things, of a "decline in morals".
Bauhaus currently operates around 280 stores - more than 150 of which are in Germany - in 19 countries. In the year 2019, sales amounted to around EUR 6.835 bn.
