The store tour, which signalled the start of the 7th Global DIY Summit in the Irish capital of Dublin yesterday, 5 June 2019, went straight to six stops. Five buses took participants to the specialist trade and DIY store locations, including one store each of the British chains B&Q and Homebase as well as the Irish market leader Woodie's. At B&Q, discussions included the topic of the own brand politics of the "unique and unified range" as the store also carries products from the new own brand GoodHome.
The congress, with close to 1 000 participants from more than 50 countries, was officially opened in the welcoming speech by the presidents of the organising associations - Obi boss Sergio Giroldi for the European DIY association Edra/Ghin and Reinhard Wolff for the association of manufacturers Fediyma. The Summit lasts for two days, it is accompanied by a congress exhibition which is contested by 40 well-known suppliers and service providers in the international DIY and garden industry.
