Neil Cowie, CEO of the Mitre 10 cooperative in New Zealand, is leaving the company. Matthew Washington, Chief Financial Officer, has been appointed as Acting CEO while the board commences an international search for a successor, says the company.
Cowie stood at the helm of the cooperative for five years which, with 83 locally owned and operated stores, is considered New Zealand's largest home improvement and garden retailer. Chairman Martin Dippie says Neil Cowie has led the company through a time of impressive growth and has ensured the company is in an excellent position for the future. It is reported that, under Cowie's leadership, sales at Mitre 10 have increased by more than NZD 600 mio.
