There's a new no. 2 in the Russian DIY market. Following growth of 20 per cent in 2017 to a sales volume of RUB 37.8 bn (approx. EUR 540 mio), Petrovich has pushed German rival Obi into third place. It has thereby achieved its self-declared target, said CEO Evgeny Movchan at the DIY Forum in Moscow.
Obi's sales came to RUB 36 bn, 2 per cent down on the previous year. Leroy Merlin of the French retail organisation Groupe Adeo remains the undisputed no. 1 in the market.
Petrovich has also consolidated its leading position in the online trade, increasing its online sales to RUB 13 bn and thus over a third of its total sales. The company aims to increase this share to 45 per cent by 2021.
